Introducing you to the Committee of March Golf Club, please take the time to get to know them. These people all give up their valuable time as volunteers to ensure the “Gem in the Fen” runs smoothly. If however, you do feel the need to raise a concern with one of the Management Team please be courteous and use the proper channels of communication … so they can enjoy their leisure time too!
A soon to be retired consultant engineer. I have spent 50 years in manufacturing engineering and been lucky enough to travel the world through my work. My love of sport in my younger years was always football but as the years crept up on me I decided I needed a vocation a little less strenuous. So in the early 1990's found golf through friends who were members of MGC. Apart from golf I play badminton twice a week and for my sins I am an avid West Ham United supporter.
My aim with the aid of my dedicated committee is to make March Golf Club a super friendly place to play golf.
A long standing member of March Golf Club and Captain of 3 consecutive years I have lived in March for 25 years and own Clovelly House a residential home for the elderly in our home town, prior to that I have managed a pub in London and had a career in sales.
I feel extremely honoured and proud to represent this club as Captain. Throughout my time at this Club
everyone has been friendly, welcoming, and gone out of their way to include me and make me feel part of the
Club. March Golf Club is not only somewhere to play golf, we also have a very active social calendar with a variety of
events taking place throughout the year. We have a very committed team of volunteers who give up their valuable time
to help with the smooth running of the Club. They do this because they enjoy it and want to be part of a common goal –
to make MGC the best 9-hole course in the county and to make everyone’s golfing experience the best it can be. All the
staff are totally committed to the Club and are on hand to help with any queries. The Men, Ladies and Seniors sections all have their
regular and well supported “Roll ups” two or three times a week at regular times. These are a very good way to meet and play with
different members and everyone is welcome to join in. Please enquire and I will be only too happy to put you in touch with the relevant
person. The Club is managed by a Committee of twelve volunteers who are very dedicated and pro-active members. I look forward to
meeting each new member as soon as possible and playing a few holes with you. In the meantime, welcome to March Golf Club and I
sincerely hope your experience here will be as good as mine continues to be. I can be contacted on: steve@durdy,uk 07306 138944
Welcome to March Golf Club, we have a small but friendly, active women’s section, with opportunities to play throughout the year. During the winter months we have regular Tuesday ‘roll ups’ which are open to all members of the women’s section. During the summer season, there are casual rounds, competitions, , social events and matches, including mixed matches, designed to support players who like competition and for those who simply want to play fun golf. We also run sessions for women interested in starting to play golf and supporting those who are just finding their way round the course.
I am happy to have a chat about the women’s section at March GC and would be delighted to play a round and introduce you to other members too. Please contact me at email@example.com
Originally from Texas, I grew playing all of the American sports; American football, basketball, baseball and of course golf. My golf group would say I'm a typical "yank". I moved to March in 2014 but didn't join MGC until the beginning of the first covid lockdown in 2020. Definitely one of the best decisions I made. Love the course, the club and the people.
I moved to England in 1999. My career is in administration and event co-ordinating. I started playing golf in 2016 and enjoy being a pro-active member of the Club.
Not only is MGC is great place to play golf but it’s also a place to socialise and meet new friends. We have a thriving, friendly and inclusive women’s section. Whether you are new to golf or an experienced golfer, you will be made very welcome.
I moved into the area approximately ten years ago, and joined March Golf Club in 2015. I am currently working in management in Adult Social Care since relocating following 25 years in financial management with many of the leading banks in the UK. In my younger days I concentrated on Judo, football, cricket and racquet sports before an unexpected heart attack in 2006 forced an early retirement from these activities. Active member of the Seniors Section at MGC and member of the committee for the past 18 months
Retired in 2002 after over forty years as a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in the Construction industry, most of it spent working for one national contractor. Married with two grown up daughters
Having played hockey tennis and badminton to a competitive standard over the years in 2014 I took up golf after being persuaded by some very good friends who were already members of MGC. I started out with a handicap of 34 and had one aim to get this down to single figures which I achieved in 2019.
I spent my working career as an Account Executive for two major grocery companies, retiring in 2013. Having taken up golf in 2011 I joined MGC in 2016 after meeting with a member of the club. I have tried several different sports over the years including trampolining, squash, fishing and half marathons. I am an active member of the seniors section and have acquired the nickname of "Stumpy"
I joined March Golf Club in 1994 and during that time I have been captain twice and sat on numerous committees ,Management, House and Bar and Social. I have played in club competitions and friendly matches but March Golf Club is not all about playing golf, this is a great place socially and also the number of friends you make over the years
