The medal on 5th October was won by Jean Alterton with a nett 77 followed by Sandra Russell with a nett 81.

9 Hole Stableford Competitions

This season the 9 Hole Stableford competitions have been very popular: the final one played on 17th October, had a very tight finish with top three ladies scoring 16 points. The winner on countback was Sandra Russell followed by Pam Wallis and then in third place Penny Gilbert.

Annual Turkey Trot

The annual Turkey Trot has been won by Jo Rowlett on 20 points followed by Ros Humphrey with 17.

Annual Play & Eat Competition

The Ladies annual play & eat 9 hole competition played on Tuesday 10th October was supported by 4 teams of 4 with a format being Texas Scramble. The winning team with a fantastic score of 26.8 was Carole Wood, Glenis Jones, Ros Humphrey and Sarah Oldham. A get together for eats afterwards was enjoyed by all where Fiona Wood (Lady Captain) presented 2 of the competitions that run over a period of weeks throughout the season.

9 Hole Thursday Comp.

The winner was Jean Alterton and in second place Sandra Russell.

Summer Eclectic

The summer 9 hole eclectic, up to 20 handicap, was won by Penny Gilbert, and over 21 handicap was won by Audrey Bond. Well done ladies.

Thorney Lakes v MGC Ladies

The Ladies' Team at Thorney LakesThe Ladies played their last friendly game of the season against Thorney Lakes away on Wednesday 20th September. Although windy and quite a cold to start the sun came out and a good game was had by all. 3 pairs represented March and the overall result was lost 1 and halved 2 matches.


Ladies 9 Hole Stableford Sept. 22nd

The last but one Ladies Medal of the year took place on Tuesday 19th September which was a lovely day. Sarah Oldham continued to play well following the Cambs and Hunts autumn foursomes by coming 3rd with a nett 77, second was Tina Roberts with a nett 76 and Sandra Russell was the winner with a nett 72.

Winner: Gail Arnold - 35 points. Runner up: Pam Hawes - 31 points.

The Gold Crest Trophy

Won by Fiona Woods on 32 points. In 2nd place was Pam Hawes, on countback, also with 32 points.

9 Hole Stableford - 10th August

A very tight finish with five ladies scoring the top score of 16 points. The winner, on countback, was Victoria Collett followed by Gail Arnold in 2nd place.

9 Hole Stableford - 30th July

Winner: Jean McAuliffe with 22 points followed by Sandra Russell in 2nd place with 17 points.

Shorter Trophy

A bogey competition, was won by Sarah Oldham -2 with Viv Snushall in 2nd place on countback, also -2

Clarks Trophy

A stableford competition, was won by Victoria Collett with 34 points and in 2nd place on countback Pearl Moss also 34 points.

Well done to Sarah Oldham who came 1st on countback with nett 72 just pipping Jo Rowlett also on nett 72. Sarah will now be playing off 7 Handicap.

Ladies Members and Friends Day -2017

Winners: Home team Pam Hawes, Jean McAuliffe, Celia Skidmore and Carole Wood with 40 points. Runners Up: Jean Alterton and Shona Kent with their 2 visiting friends from Lakeside on 37 points.

The Afternoon Tea

The Afternoon tea at MGC on 30th May raised an excellent £250 which will go towards club projects, many thanks to the Lady members who made this possible & all those who supported this event.

Results of Ladies Competition for charity.

Emma Norman continues her winning streak with 1st place on 35 points and handicap reduced again, now to 13 . 2nd on countback Carolyn Morton 29 points followed by Jean Alterton 29 points.

Women's Ping Four Ball

12 pairs of ladies took part in this competition. The winners were Lydia Molyneux and Gail Arnold with 37 points . 2nd place was closely contested with Sandra Russell and Tina Roberts on 36 points just beating Anna Robertson and Maggie Groves on countback.

Bridgestone Chase Your Dream Trophy

Congratulations to Emma Norman who finished 3rd in the Eastern Region Final of the Bridgestone Chase Your Dream Trophy at Rookery Park. Emma shot a Gross 88, giving her a nett 2 under par 72. Emma now plays in the National Final at Woodhall Spa on the 18th August and the winner will be England’s champion female handicap golfer of the year. In addition the top nine players will play in the pro-am at the Bridgestone Challenge in September. The winning team there will play in the pro-am at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports at Close House Golf Club, Northumberland, on Wednesday 27 September 2017.

Ladies Spring meeting

The Ladies Spring Meeting was greatly supported with 30 ladies taking part. The top four places were tightly contested with Celia Skidmore in 4th place on countback with 32 points and Margaret Butt in 3rd place with 32 points. Maureen Pope came in 2nd place on countback to the winner Emma Norman on 33 points.

Grace Norman

The Lady Captain writes that March Ladies had a great game in the Grace Norman competition with a 2:1 win. Thank you to the Cambridgeshire club for a great venue and lovely playing partners. Thanks to all our ladies. Who played very well. Looking forward to the next round.

Reynolds Rose Bowl

Celia Skidmore and Paul Goddard won the Reynolds Rose Bowl with an impressive 40 points. Alan Hall won nearest the pin on the 2nd and the 6th. Lovely day of golf thanks to everyone to took part.

The friendly against Ryston Park was played in great spirits and fantastic conditions! Unfortunately we were beaten 3-1. Thank you for all the March ladies for playing today and thanks to Ryston Park for a good match!

The course was looking good and the result was very close. The winners being Shona Kent and Jean Alterton with 31 points (ocb). 2nd place went to Gail Arnold and Margaret Butt also on 31 points. 3rd Ros Humphrey and Tina Roberts 30 points (ocb) 4. Lydia Molyneux and Glenis Jones 30 points.
